Do Baltic Amber Necklaces Really Work?

Those waking hours!!!

It seems to be part of life's journey:   two a.m. and your eyelids fly open and leave you staring into the blackness for hours. You try and tame it with meditation. praying, reading, counting sheep or anything else that takes your fancy. But not a lot seems to help!.

Loath to go with the medication option, I had become accustomed to this middle of the night wakefulness and had decided to simply accept it and just be very happy for the occasional good night's sleep that I did manage.

There are theories that the "2a.m. wakefulness" is the result of an unhappy liver (which I did accept as possible - my doctor has been known to query my lifestyle of the party years and how that may have contributed to that discontented organ).

An organic solution? Baltic amber necklaces

I have always been a bit of a sceptic about the benefits of wearing, for example, copper or magnetic bracelets, so when a friend suggested that the Baltic amber teething necklace she has for her son to help with teething problems, is also beneficial to adults, my response was along the lines of "Hmmm...."

After reading about the benefits of the amber, I did decide to try it out as there did not seem to be anything to lose. And I must say, after wearing the necklace for 10 days - I only take it off for showering and when out jogging - I am quite amazed. I have had 8 out of 10 very good "sleeps" since I started wearing the necklace. I find that even when I do wake, I can quite quickly fall asleep again. I also seem to be quite a lot calmer and certainly wake refreshed. On the two nights when I did have periods of wakefulness, I did not feel stressed by it and just read for a while as has been my custom. I am amazed. So much so that I am recommending amber necklaces and bracelets to other wakeful relatives and friends. (Even a 74 year old uncle is embracing the "hippie" cure).

And toss away the Paracetamol!

My previous wakeful nights often left me with a niggling headache which of course I tried to relieve with a couple of paracetamol - the breakfast supplement of many middle aged citizens.

I am happy to report that I have moved from a 2-a-day habit to ....none! In the last 10 days I have taken only 2 tablets total and that was for a painful knee (did I mention the jogging?).

I am now firmly convinced that there is some truth to claims of the health benefits of amber. And don't just leave it with the babies to enjoy these benefits which many mothers will attest to.

Whatever the age, I think it is worth a try to experience drug free pain relief and a good nights sleep.

I usually wake up past one or two AM and doctors attributed it to unhappy. Funny but comforting, I always have this bottle of water beside my pillow and drink it whenever I feel like doing it to quench my thirst during those periods.

I have come across so many people who seem to wake at 2am - some say it is the "liver" hour - seems that if you have problems with your liver, that is when it decides to let you know about it. Is this the case of an "irritated" liver getting revenge by irritating you?
